What this test can tell you
Inspect each solid color for a mark that stays at the same physical location. Comparing white, black and primary colors can help describe whether the mark stays dark, bright or colored.
This is a visual inspection, not an automatic pixel detector or a repair certificate. Dust and surface damage can resemble pixel faults. Follow the display maker’s cleaning and warranty instructions.
How to use it
- Clean the screen so dust is not mistaken for a pixel defect.
- Press “Start pixel test” — the screen goes fullscreen.
- Look over the entire screen on each color; click, tap or press → for the next color.
- Note any dot that stays black or stays one color. Press Esc to finish.
Dead pixel or stuck pixel?
A dark mark that persists on bright backgrounds may resemble a dead pixel; a fixed bright or colored mark may resemble a stuck pixel or subpixel. Compare several colors and exclude surface dust. The page cannot determine the electrical cause or confirm a repair.
How many dead pixels are acceptable?
Pixel-defect coverage varies by manufacturer, model, warranty and return policy. Check the policy for your exact display and describe the defect’s location and appearance on several backgrounds. There is no universal replacement threshold that this page can apply.

The dot moves when I scroll
A mark that moves with page content is likely part of the rendered content. A mark fixed at the same physical spot could be dust, a surface defect or a pixel defect. Clean the screen gently according to the manufacturer’s instructions, then compare several solid colors.
Fullscreen does not work on iPhone
The test still fills the browser window. Rotate to landscape and scroll to hide the toolbar.
Can the fixer repair a dead pixel?
Software cannot repair a physically dead pixel. Color cycling is not a proven or guaranteed repair for a stuck pixel either. Check the manufacturer’s service and warranty options for a persistent defect.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work for phones and TVs?
Yes. Open this page on any device with a browser, including smart TVs, and run the test fullscreen.
How long should I run the stuck pixel fixer?
There is no reliable duration that guarantees a repair. The optional flashing mode is an experiment and may do nothing; skip it if flashing is uncomfortable or unsafe for you. Persistent defects should be assessed through the manufacturer’s support or warranty policy.
Is the flashing safe?
Rapidly flashing colors can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Do not use the fixer if this applies to you.
