Left right sound test

Press Left or Right: you should hear the sound only from that side. If both sides play or the sides are swapped, your headphones, cable or audio settings need attention.

You should hear the left button only in your left ear or speaker, and the right button only on the right.

Runs locally in your browser. Optional recordings and photos stay on your device; nothing is uploaded.

What this test can tell you

The page generates tones through the selected or system-default audio output. Compare Left, Right and Both to check the channel routing that you can hear.

No microphone measurement is made here. Missing or distorted sound can involve output selection, balance, mono settings, audio hardware or the listener; it does not identify one cause by itself.

How to use it

  1. Put on your headphones or sit in front of your speakers.
  2. Press Left, then Right, then Both.
  3. Check that each sound comes from the correct side.

Mono audio setting

If both sides always play the same sound, “Mono audio” may be enabled in accessibility settings on Windows, macOS, iPhone or Android. Turn it off for stereo.

Not working? Try these fixes

Only one side plays

Check the cable and plug, clean the headphone jack, and check the balance slider in your system sound settings.

Sides are swapped

Look for L and R marks on your headphones, or swap the speaker cables.
