Double click test

Compare deliberate single clicks with the button counts and intervals received by the browser. The page flags intervals under 80 ms for review; it cannot decide whether the second press was intentional.

What this test can tell you

Button and wheel counters show events received in the test area. Click intervals help compare repeated clicks; the pointer rate estimates browser-delivered movement updates over a rolling window.

The page cannot tell whether a second click was intentional. The 80 ms warning is a screening threshold, not a fault diagnosis. Pointer update rate can differ from the mouse’s configured USB polling rate.

How to use it

  1. Click slowly 20–30 times with the left button inside the box.
  2. Watch the “Double clicks” counter and the click interval.
  3. Repeat with the right button.

Why mice start double clicking

Unwanted extra presses can involve a switch, button settings, remapping software or the input method. Repeat controlled single clicks, compare another application and record when the issue recurs. A single short interval is insufficient to identify the cause.

Not working? Try these fixes

It shows double clicks only sometimes

Repeat deliberate single clicks with clear pauses and compare another app or connection. An intermittent extra event is something to investigate, not a diagnosis from this page alone.

Windows double-clicks when I single-click

Check Control Panel → Mouse → double-click speed, and make sure “Click to open an item” is not set to single click in File Explorer.

Frequently asked questions

Can a double-clicking mouse be fixed?

Often yes: cleaning, firmware debounce settings or replacing the switch fix most cases. Many mice are under warranty for this fault.

What interval means a faulty switch?

Two clicks less than about 80 ms apart are almost never intentional.
